Who is a Body Lift Candidate?
If you have had dramatic weight loss or weight fluctuations that has left you with overhanging skin on your lower body that restricts your mobility or causes chafing and rashes, you may be able to benefit from a body lift. This procedure can help to create a more proportionate body contour for a boost in confidence and a better quality of life. Individuals interested in a body lift procedure should schedule a consultation with Dr. Cusimano to determine candidacy.
The Body Lift Procedure
A complete lower body lift can treat the buttocks, abdomen, waist, hips, and thighs. This procedure extends a tummy tuck incision completely around the lower torso, allowing Dr. Cusimano to lift the thighs, tighten the buttocks, and execute a traditional tummy tuck, if needed. If a patient wishes to forego a tummy tuck, liposuction can also be done to help smooth and contour many areas of the body for optimal results. The length of the incisions will depend on how much excess skin is being removed, however, Dr. Cusimano will do his best to take your incision preferences into consideration.

What to Expect After a Body Lift
After a body lift, swelling is to be expected, as is discomfort, which can be controlled with pain medication. You will be given compression garments to help reduce swelling and support your new body contours. Drains will also be placed to control swelling and collect any excess fluid. Full healing of the circumferential incisions may take four weeks or longer, and patients will need to take at least 2-3 weeks off from work. Exercise should be avoided for 6-8 weeks. Overall, following Dr. Cusimano’s post-op instructions will help to ensure a smooth recovery period.
